Share Your Love For Food This Valentine’s Day

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, you are probably on the lookout for that next great date place. Just remember the old adage “the way to a man's heart is through his stomach” – this holds for women as well! And while there may be no scientific basis for this, we can all agree that nothing beats bonding over a great shared meal. In fact, most memorable moments often happen around a table. So, this year, make Valentine’s Day all about good food – and good company, of course! Read on to find out our top gastronomic picks for Valentine’s Day this year.

1. Yakiniku Yazawa / Steak & Hamburg MASA

Yakiniku Yazawa serves only the finest of the top-class Kuroge Wagyu Beef, sourced directly from Japan with strict quality control measures. Kuroge Wagyu holds the highest possible A5 beef ranking in Japan, and its meat is renowned for its sumptuous texture, rich taste, and superb aroma.

The restaurant ambience is warm, cosy and intimate, which is reminiscent of authentic Japanese yakiniku restaurants.

Here, you can order a variety of meats for grilling, but don’t forget to get what you came for and sample the Wagyu ribeye or tenderloin. Word of advice though – go easy on the sauces! Just use enough on the meat to enhance the taste and not overpower it. They also serve a selection of sake and shochu cocktails, but if that’s too strong for you, there is always beer and fruit-flavoured liquor. Non-alcoholic drinks are available as well.

But if you want to focus on steaks, visit Steak & Hamburg MASA just beside Yakiniku Yazawa. Also serving premium Japanese Wagyu, you can choose the cut yourself, from ribeye, sirloin and tenderloin to various round cuts (Rump, Ramboso, Ichibo, or Nakaniku). Each cut brings out a unique quality of the meat. For marbled, soft meat with a fine texture, go for the ribeye. If you prefer something a bit fattier, aim for the sirloin, tenderloin or Ramboso. Or, if you’d like something firmer, order a Rump or the flavourful Nakaniku. You can also opt for something less chewy and order a Masa Hamburg, also made from the finest Japanese Wagyu meat.

After dinner, you and your date can take a quiet walk down along the Singapore River and revel in its amazing evening views.

Visit Yakiniku Yazawa at Robertson Walk, #01-01 or Steak & Hamburg MASA at Robertson Walk, #01-04, from 6.00pm to 11.30pm daily (last order at 11.00pm)

Ichikokudo specialises in Ramen and hails from Hokkaido Japan, which not only enjoys abundant seafood but is also characterised by vast, green pastures and fresh air. This makes it possible to grow the highest quality grains and vegetables.

Inside each bowl of delicious goodness, you will find a signature soup base that is prepared with fresh chicken, vegetables and a blend of ingredients from Hokkaido, including bonito, mackerels and kelp. This results in a rich, dense soup with umami flavours. Meanwhile, the ramen noodles are exclusively produced with a special blend of Hokkaido wheat that adds a distinct springiness to each bite. Topping this off is a generous helping of Aosa seaweed that evokes the aroma of the Hokkaido sea.

If you want to go all out on seafood, try their Lobster Ramen or Double Lobster Ramen. Rich shrimp paste and shrimp oil are added to Ichikokudo's original soup base to conjour an addictive, luxurious soup. That, topped with a Boston lobster, lobster ball, spinach and leek will surely be a gastronomic experience you won’t forget.

And the good news is, Ichikokudo is Halal certified, so everyone can enjoy!
